A new tourism group, Go NoCO, is applying to Colorado’s Regional Tourism Act for funding that would help build and promote major tourism projects in the Northern Colorado area, receiving as much as $50 million a year to develop the attractions. The group is backed by city officials from many Northern Colorado cities, as well as private organizations eager to see tourism opportunities increase within the state. This could bring exciting new Fort Collins activities for residents, too! Check out some of the proposed tourism projects that could be coming our way:
- Peligrande Resort & Windsor Conference Center
The four-star hotel and conference center located in Windsor near Water Valley will also be home to an upscale restaurant and luxury spa.
- Indoor Waterpark Resort
This project is the proposed anchor of Go NoCO’s regional tourism board. The 148,500-square-foot waterpark will also have a 330 room hotel attached.
- Adventure Watersports Park
This watersports park will offer adventure tubing and a 2,200 linear foot whitewater channel, zip lines, canyoneering area, and additional activities for children.
- National Sports Science and Optimization Center
This center will be the home of the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Training Facility, as well as outdoor fields and a sports science center from the University of Colorado.
- An upgrade to Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch has also been proposed, adding capacity to the ranch, as well as restoring damage done to the property in during the 2013 floods.
All of these projects will bring new jobs and activities to the Fort Collins area! You can learn more about the projects by visiting the group’s website at http://www.gonoco.org.
